Berk's Beans Coffee

This is a quick-reference sheet. For the full walkthrough with brewing steps and FAQs, see Coffee Origins of the World.

Nearly all coffee grows in the “Bean Belt,” the tropical band between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn, where steady 60–70°F temperatures, generous rainfall, and volcanic soils give coffee trees exactly what they need. Where a coffee grows shapes what’s in your cup.

Put it to work — pairings & fun facts

  • Bright & fruity? Reach for Africa at a lighter roast.
  • Smooth & balanced? The Americas at a medium roast rarely miss.
  • Bold & earthy? Asia’s full-bodied origins love a darker roast.

Did you know: Ethiopia is coffee’s birthplace and it still grows wild there. Yemen’s port of Mocha gave “mocha” its name. And Papua New Guinea’s coffee descends from Jamaican Blue Mountain seeds planted in the 1920s.

Why altitude matters

At higher elevations, cooler nights slow the cherry’s ripening, producing denser beans with brighter acidity and more complex flavor. It’s why so many of these origins proudly note their mountain roots, and why “high-grown” is a badge of honor on a coffee bag.
